About

A house among the lindens

Linden Hall is an 1820 manor house at the end of an avenue of lindens, with a garden that runs down to the lake, a Victorian orangery, and a hall for one hundred and sixty guests under the old beams. Couples marry on the lawn below the terrace, and dine in the hall or under the trees.

The open day is the house as it will be on yours: the lawn set with chairs and an arch, the orangery laid for a tasting, the florist at work, the cake on the table. Walk in, sit down, ask everything — and leave with a date held.

FAQ

The questions couples ask

How many guests can the manor hold?

One hundred and sixty seated in the hall; two hundred with the orangery open. The lawn holds everyone for the ceremony.

Can we marry outdoors?

On the lawn under the lindens, yes — the terrace steps are licensed for ceremonies. If it rains, the orangery is the plan: glass, citrus trees and the same garden through the panes.

Where do our guests stay?

Sixteen rooms in the manor and eight in the coach house; for the rest we hold rooms in Stow-on-the-Wold, and a coach runs from the gate at the end of the night.

How late can the party go?

Until one in the hall, and until two with the doors closed. The nearest neighbour is the lake.

Can we bring our own wine?

Yes, with a corkage fee — or choose from the cellar, which is mostly English and mostly better than people expect.

Your date

Is your date free?
